Late call on Sizing target

By on September 21, 2020

first_img The 11-year-old won Punchestown’s two-mile feature 12 months ago, but was beaten 19 lengths by Sprinter Sacre in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham last month. Sizing Europe has yet to tackle three miles and a furlong, but he has run well without winning when tried over three miles. “I’m not sure. I want to discuss it with Ann and Alan Potts and we’ll decide in the next couple of days, obviously,” De Bromhead told At The Races. “I just don’t know at the moment what we’ll do. We’ll see what way the ground is going and now we know Sprinter Sacre is confirmed and coming over, we will just go over it all and make a decision. “They are talking about rain again on Sunday. I think Richie Galway, the manager there, is predicting starting on soft ground and possibly drying, but I’ve not spoken to him in the last couple of days. “The last time I spoke to him he thought it might dry out a small amount, but I actually haven’t anything up to date so I don’t know. There is talk of rain tomorrow.” Henry de Bromhead will make a late call on whether Sizing Europe takes on the mighty Sprinter Sacre in the Boylesports.com Champion Chase at Punchestown on Tuesday. The County Waterford trainer has to decide with owners Ann and Alan Potts whether to face Nicky Henderson’s brilliant two-mile chaser for a second time or instead take on Sir Des Champs and Long Run in the Bet Online With TheTote.com Punchestown Gold Cup on Wednesday. The Sizing Europe team will weight up all the factors, including likely ground conditions, before making the important call. center_img Press Associationlast_img read more
