The Gooden School Does Good for All Creatures, Great and Small

first_img St. Francis of Assisi, known for his love of all of God’s creatures, is celebrated with a Blessing of the Animals service.In many parts of the world, pets of all shapes and sizes are brought in by their owners to be blessed.Each year, The Gooden School takes part in the blessing and it has become a yearly sight to behold a menagerie of pets, from cats and dogs, to horses, reptiles and even insects!On Thursday, October 3, the Gooden School will hold its own Blessing of the Animals with a special outdoor chapel service where students and families can bring their pets to be blessed.Located at 192 North Baldwin Ave. in Sierra Madre, The Gooden School offers a classical education for the 21st century.The school’s motto is “Respect for self, Respect for others, and Respect for the world,” also known as “The Three R’s.” The Blessing of the Animalsaptly reflects the school’s philosophy.All pets (real and stuffed) are welcome to join in a tradition to bless furry, scaly, feathered, finned, and four-legged friends.To learn more about Gooden School and its upcoming events, visit http://www.goodenschool.org or call (626) 355-2410 for more information.
