Microsoft has quietly added browser-based versions of four PopCap games to Xbox.com that are playable for free.Plants vs Zombies, Bejeweled 3, Zuma’s Revenge and Text Twist 2 have all been placed on a new section within Xbox.com labeled Xbox Live Web Games. All four are free, ad-supported, and are essentially trial versions of the games.AdChoices广告The page itself doesn’t yet appear to exist within the typical navigation either for Xbox.com or for GamesforWindows.com. Any game shows a 30-second “pre-roll” video ad before the game is playable, and leaderboards are supported using Xbox Live logins. On the game page, the player’s Xbox Avatar is visible and animated, if the user is logged in with the Windows Live email connected to their Xbox Live account.Plants vs Zombies is PopCap’s take on tower defense. Players place plants on six rows to take out advancing zombies. Bejeweled 3 is the latest entry in the long running, and oft-imitated, match-3-shapes puzzle genre. Zuma’s Revenge is a puzzler that involves shooting orbs into sprawling chains of more orbs. Matching 3 or more destroys the orbs and shortens the chain. If the chain gets too long, the player loses. Lastly, Text Twist 2 is a revision to the word-formation game where players are given six letters and told to make as many words as possible from those letters in 60 seconds. The games are limited versions when compared to full versions purchased on various app stores or on PopCap’s own site. Plants vs Zombies, for example, comes with a short campaign mode and restricts access to advanced modes. Still, if you have 10 minutes to fill these are perfect sized chunks of gameplay to keep you entertained.Read more and play the games at Xbox.com.
