Area law enforcement increase DUI patrols through Labor Day

first_imgLaw enforcement agencies will be increasing patrols through Labor Day to crack down on impaired driving.Driving under the influence of intoxicants is the leading cause of death on Washington roadways, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office reports.In an effort to curb the trend, area law enforcement is participating in the Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. During the 18-day blitz, law enforcement plan to patrol highways, county roads and city streets looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or other drugs.Police in Vancouver, Battle Ground, La Center and Camas, troopers with the Washington State Patrol and deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office are participating in the blitz.Funding for overtime patrols is provided by the Washington Traffic Safety commission as part of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan called Target Zero, which aims to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injury collisions to zero by 2030.last_img
